Fashionista Friday: Style and Dezine Boutique

This week, a brand new boutique opened downtown Jamestown, Style and Dezine Boutique! I am so very excited to have this boutique in town, close to me! This boutique is close to my heart, not only because the owner, Nancy is a relative and friend, but I am good friends with Nancy’s daughter, my hairdresser, Janelle!

I grew up going and staying over at their home. It was alway my favorite place to have a slumber party! Nancy was that mom who just went out of her way to make you feel at home. I remember, one morning she made Janelle and I Mickey Mouse pancakes. I ate so many pancakes that morning, I couldn’t eat pancakes for years after! No matter what Nancy does, she always goes out of her way to make you feel at home, comfortable, and truly “full” in every sense of the word.

It’s no wonder her first store in the small, local town of Edgeley, was a huge success, that they opened another in Jamestown. I couldn’t be happier for her! I was lucky enough to be there on the opening day, and you could tell, Nancy was just in her element. Doing radio announcements, chatting with customers, and taking time for everyone.

I am now the proud owner of a new handbag and some super cute shoes thanks to the Style and Dezine Boutique! The handbag is so cute for fall! I can’t wait to pair it with a great blazer and scarf! I can be dressed up or down! The shoes are AMAZING! I have been looking for black flats! These have a little heel and could go with an office outfit to a casual outfit with jeans! I can’t wait to wear them!

The new downtown shop has homemade soaps, stylish fashion from several different designers; dresses to tops, to boot socks to lotions, to shoes, to bags. They also have jewelry and fashionable undergarments and leggings. They have it all!

If you haven’t, please go check it out! It is a wonderful boutique and so welcomed downtown Jamestown! Plus the boutique is so cute and industrial-chic! I promise, you’ll find something you will absolutely love!

Happy Friday, loves! Xo

Fashionista Friday: Sexy Modest Boutique

Happy Friday Fashionistas!

Today, I am featuring a new boutique, the Sexy Modest Boutique I just found on Instagram! I ended up buying a few things, and I LOVE them! They have good quality clothing along with great prices! A lot of their pieces look high end and expensive, but for a good price!

I got a blazer and a poncho/cardigan. Both fit true to size and are great quality.

I love the blazer! I actually wore it to church recently with a tank and a cozy scarf! It is kind of stretchy and giving material. It is super comfy and something that I could wear all day at the office as well! You can dress it up or dress it down. It has zippers that add an edgy feel to it, depending on what you pair it with.

I also love my plaid poncho cardigan. I have gotten so many complaints on it! It is the perfect fall look! It almost looks Burrburry-ish! I love pairing it with a lose white tee and a scarf with ripped skinnies and flats or booties. As it gets colder, you could also pair it with a long sleeved shirt underneath.

Fall fashion, as you can tell is my absolute favorite! It’s just so cozy and fun! Stay tuned for more GREAT fall fashion posts!

Have a Happy Weekend!

Fashionista Friday: Fall Essentials

Lately, it seems like a lot of posts are on fall! Can you tell I am a tad obsessed?! (: It’s been awhile since I have done a Fashionista Friday post, so here it goes… And on what else but Fall Essentials!

Lately, I have had a lot of people tell me that they love my outfit pairings for fall! I love fashion and I love fall, the two just mix well for me! Fall is the time of year when I have a shopping spree for new sweaters and boots, because as women, you know we just NEED those! There are few things that are better than getting new cozy sweaters and flannel for fall!  Plus, grown adults don’t go back to school shopping.

Today, I am going to give you the Fall Basics. The basics you need to have in your wardrobe this fall and every fall from now on to have the perfect fall look. These items are timeless, so no matter how much fashion changes in the coming years or decades, you’ll still look good!

  1. I love my yellow fall coat that I purchased on Zulily last fall! It’s not your typical coat, it has a warm and cozy, almost sweatshirt lining, and it is warm! Mine is a yellow mustard color, but you could get whatever color or pattern you’d like. I like pops of fall colors or warm neutrals! Patterns like hound’s-tooth or florals are also fun! Here, here, and here are some fun, fall coats!
  1. At a bare minimum, you should have two scarves. One for outdoor use and one for dress use. Scarves are a perfect fall accessory, plus they are functional! This year, blanket scarves are so in! Blanket scarves are bigger, cozier – perfect for the changing season. Plus, they could double as an outdoor/indoor/shawl, for more functionality! Here, here and here are some ideas! For storing my scarves, I have a cloth basket in our closet and I have a special scarf hanger, similar here.

  1. A blazer is perfect for fall because you don’t need a jacket over it. The great thing about a blazer, is that it is so versatile. You can dress it up or down with accessories, shoes, or the type of pant your pair with it. Ideas here and here.
  1. Booties/Boots. My love for boots and botties is a little ridiculous. Boots are like my weakness. I LOVE boots. I have more boots than I do regular shoes! It helps because they are so cute and can literally go with every outfit that you own. Here, here and here are some ideas.

  1. Basic Tees, Basic Tanks, Basic Long Sleeves. If you don’t have a few basic tees in white, black, brown, and navy…It’s time you get some…NOW!! I love basic tees because they can go with every single outfit, summer, fall, winter, or spring. You can pair them with blazers, sweater, cardigans, a scarf, or just keep it simple and plain.
  1. Sweaters/Cardigans/Poncho. The most essential part of a fall wardrobe is having enough sweaters, cardigans and ponchos for outter layering. I was anti-poncho for the longest time, but now, I kind of like them. A lot. They are warm and cozy. During fall and winter, the sweater or cardigan completes the look and ties everything together.

  1. Fall is also a great time to update your handbag or purse! There are so many great, new styles out that are functional and perfect for whatever look you are going for! I recently got myself a new bag and matching wallet. I try to get a new purse every year, just because after using it for year, it’s pretty much wore out! My old wallet, I had for several years. It was time for something different and more professional looking. I decided on a cross-body bag from Herberger’s, Nine West brand, similar here. It has three main compartments, perfect for wallet, phone, and all the little extras you carry with you. Plus it’s light! I hate carrying around a heavy purse!

  1. If you haven’t tried leggings yet, I am not quite sure what planet you are from, but you need to try them! For winter months, they make fleece lined leggings that are super cozy and warm. On the weekends, I have a pair of everyday leggings that I wear just to lounge around in. I love earing leggings with a long tunic or sweater or even a dress, particularly a denim dress and of course boots and a scarf! The biggest tip for leggings is making sure you are covered in the front and back. No one wants to see your butt sticking out. With the right outfit and accessories, leggings can be very flattering and not to mention, COMFY!

  1. Button-Down Shirts (Flannel or Denim). Words can’t express how much I love a good button down shirt or flannel. You can wear a button down shirt year round with any outfit. They are also great for layering with blazers, cardigans, and sweaters. If you haven’t noticed, fall is all about the layers. Here and here are some great button downs.
  1. I love fall dresses. Plaid, sweater, or denim fashion is just at its best in the fall! I love pairing them with leggings or tights and boots! A sweater dress looks great with just boot socks and boots! With thinner dresses, you can layer them with a cardigan or even a blazer for an office look. Here, here and here are some ideas.

There are all my fall fashion essentials. Most of these you can get for a reasonable price, and a few you probably own already, but didn’t know how to pair with what. Polyvore and Pinterest have great pairing and outfit ideas as well.

Happy Fashionista Friday, loves! Xo

Fashionista Friday: Transitioning Summer Outfits to Fall

Hello Fashionistas!

Welcome to August! I have been slacking in the fashion area of my blog and blogging altogehter! It has been such a busy summer! It’s that time of the year when the mornings are crisp and cool and afternoons are still hot. So what do we wear?! How can you transition your summer closet into a fall closet without spending a fortune?

  • Pair a light and a dark color together. By pairing a summer-y top with dark jeggings (like my outfit of choice today), you get a great summer-fall look!

  • Add a scarf! By adding a scarf, you give an outfit a hit of coziness!

  • Make the switch of sandals to flats.

  • You know your favorite summer tank?! Add a simple cardigan!

  • Pair summer colors like pinks, purples, white, and blues with fall colors, like browns, reds, oranges, and mustard yellows.

  • Switch our your makeup to darker, fall tones!

Have a happy weekend!

With about two weeks left before the 4th of July, have you thought about what your are wearing?

We will be going out to the Southwestern part of our beautiful state of North Dakota, to Medora! Medora is were the old west comes alive again! Medora is known for the time Teddy Roosevelt spent there, it’s beautiful painted badlands, and the Medora Musical! I can’t wait! It’s Taylor and I’s first time going there together! Even though it will only be a day trip, I am happy to get away for a mini summer road trip!

The 4th is always special to us because the 5th is our wedding anniversary, and the 6th, my birthday! I have always loved the season of late June and early July, so to have everything crammed into one big, fun weekend is wonderful.

Just this week, I ordered my fourth of July outfit! I got it from the Red Dress Boutique! It’s a red, white, and blue, stars and stripes kind of dress and it is adorable! I absolutely cannot wait to wear it! I will post picture later!

This outfit is perfect for that summer BBQ or a fun 4th of July fest

Fashionista Friday: Modern Vintage Boutique

Once again, it is Friday. But this Friday is very different from most of my Fridays, I took the day off and am spending it getting things done around the house! Even though I am busy, I love being at home, not have a schedule, or having to put make-up on and go somewhere. It is just the bliss of the simple things.

Right now, I am writing to you from my patio outside the front of my house. I have a large mason jar of lemon and strawberry infused water, and I am ready to share with you about a wonderful, little boutique that I love and my last weekend, date night shinadigans!

Last weekend, Taylor and I finally squeezed in a date night! We hadn’t had time with spring planting and with me working. It was a thunderstormy afternoon and we both could get away.

We went out to eat at a local, downtown restaurant, where we enjoyed Chicken Alfredo and Steak with Shrimp. (Can you guess who had what?! Yes, I love my cheesey, gooey, carbs!) It was wonderful.

Then we went to the Pitch Perfect 2 movie. It was okay, but definitely not as good as the first. I would still reccomment seeing it if you have already saw the first one, but don’t let your expectations be too high.

Anyway, here is what I wore:

A lovely, white lace dress from the Modern Vintage Boutique and the best part, it was on SALE!!

Modern Vintage Boutique is filled with trendy tops, skirts, dresses, and of course the basics like camis and tanks. Right now, they have lots of super cute Fourth of July outfits! I have been looking for something cute for that weekend because we are taking a roadtrip to the Southwest part of the state and attending the Medora Musical the night of the fourth. It is also our second anniversary and my birthday weekend. I am just happy to be getting away then and having a little mini vacation!

Anyway, the MVB has your back and style for any occation! Along with this dress I purchased a Christmas/New Year’s Eve dress for my office Christmas party this winter! I know, it’s too early to be thinking of snow and Christmas again, but it was only $18 and it’s a gorgeous, red, strapless gown! I am so excited to wear it!!!

MVB also has some guy clothing too for that special man in your life! I haven’t personally purchased anything for Taylor from here, but it looks like good quality clothing!

Happy Friday, loves!

Fashionista Friday: Forever Anchored Boutique

Play-Suits. Rompers. You either love ’em or hate ’em. For me, I love a cute romper, but there has to be some guidelines. 1. No crazy prints. 2. Must be a comfortable material. 3. Must fit correctly. 4. Can be all one solid color like black, navy, denim, etc. 5. Shorts may be a different color that is stylish and looks classy.

Some of these might make no sense to you, lets just say, I like my rompers classy. I don’t want to look like a pattern of pineapple hippies exploded nor, do I want to look like a six year old girl.

I saw this particular romper on Pinterest many times (and probably pinned it every time I saw it)! It’s just so cute and classy and something you can wear for date nights, weddings, or shopping with the girls!

I found this particular romper, which I had to pre-order, from Forever Anchored Boutique! It’s a cute little online boutique (who’s site is currently under rennovations), out of Georgia! I had to wait about three weeks until I got this baby just because it was a pre-order item, but it was worth it! It fits perfect and is everything I could want in a romper!

Happy Shopping and Happy Friday!

What are your plans for the weekend?!

Fashionista Friday: Loveable Spring Bags

It’s spring. And it’s also that time of the year to switch out your winter handbags for new, fresh spring and summer ones! It is a great time to do so! There are tons of hot, new colors out for this spring and summer season! Not to worry, I am here to give you 6 of the hottest spring/summer bag ideas!

1. Purple Satchel from The Red Dress Boutique

In case you haven’t noticed, lavender is in! Personally, I LOVE this bag! It is the perfect size and color (one of my favorites)! You can easily fit in everything you need and it’s a good look for the office or a girls’ night out!

2. Michael Kors – Pale Pink Dome Satchel

There are no words except for perfect! This bag is gorgeous. This bag is a little spendy, but remember you are paying for designer, good quality leather that will last longer than your average bag!

3. Periwinkle Tote – Walmart

Talk about a pool or beach day! This is your bag! It can hold all the essentials, book, towel, suntan oil while still being stylish! It comes in 6 other fabulous summer colors! And the best part, it’s easy on the wallet!

4.Marc Fisher – Macy’s

This adorable little crossbody is great for date night or a night out! It comes in four other colors and it’s the perfect spring accessory!

5. Fossil Preston Crossbody – Fossil

Wouldn’t this little number be so great for the 4th of July?! You’ll be paying for the timeless leather that is used by Fossil, but Fossil leather means quality. This classic piece will be a favorite year after year, even beyond Labor Day Weekend!

6. Marc Fisher – Macy’s

Here is another Marc Fisher that, for the price, doesn’t compromise on style! This would be perfect for that summer vacation coming up or shopping in style! Perfect bag for all summer long!

Hope this Fashionista Friday helped you decide on a bag or two for the upcoming months! Happy Shopping and Happy Friday! Xo

Fashionista Friday: Fabletics

You may have seen a Fabletics ad in your favorite magazine or on a television commercial. I ordered my first outfit back in January when I started my new, healthy lifestyle! New and cute activewear is a great way motivated to workout! I am not sure what it about having something new in your fitness wear department, but it always makes me more excited to workout!

Fabletics is great for that because every month they send you new picks for their latest activewear! When you first sign up, you have to take a computer generated quiz to find out what kind of workouts you do, where you do them, and what you like to show off (arms, legs, abs, etc…). By those results, they send you outfits that fit your own needs! You also enter in your sizes and everything is perfectly sized just for you, whether tall, short, skinny, heavy chested, or bubble butt!

Don’t like the picks for a certain month or getting a new pair or set of workout clothes isn’t in the budget that month?! That’s okay too! Just simply login to your account and skip the month, otherwise you are charged a fee. Easy enough right?!

Fabletics is a fun and fashionable way to treat yourself once a month or however often you choose to get a new workout outfit! Fabletics activewear is all designed by Kate Hudson! It is made to also be fashionable enough to run errands and go out without looking frumpy! And it is so comfy! I not only wear my outfits for working out, but also on the weekends for lounging around the house! (I love me some good quality leggings!)

Speaking of quality, Fabletics is made from quality materials and so far, from all the wear and washing, my outfits show no signs of wear! Plus, your first outfit is only $25!! How great is that!

Have a wonderful weekend! Xo

Fashionista Friday: Cuffed Jeans and Booties

Good morning and Happy Friday! This Fashionista Friday is a little different than the others so far. It is a fashion trend alert and a how to pull it off without compromising your own personal style or looking like a clown!

It seems that this year the new and greatest trend is cuffed or rolled jeans with booties, heeled, wedged, or flat. Now that spring is in the air, cuffed jeans are more in than ever. For a more spring look, you might swap out your booties with a wedge sandal or a heeled strappy sandal.

As for myself, I finally gave into this trend about two months ago when I found a bargain pair of wedged booties. And if anyone knows me, they know I love my boots! I wear them all the time in the winter! I also am not one to go for certain trends that come out. I kinda like doing my own thing. So, this was a big deal for me. And it turns out I really love this trend! It really grew on me! Plus I love jeggings or skinny jeans, so it worked out well!

Okay, here are some of the basics of cuffing skinny jeans or jeggings. Do not, I repeat do not just simply tuck your skinnies into your boots. This look makes you look like a stubby muffin. Don’t do it.

Second, don’t tuck your booties under your skinnies! This will make anyone look like they have legs for miles. Yes, for short ladies, this is a dream come true, but skinnies pulled over the boot just doesn’t look good. Period.

To pull off a cuffed jean look you can do a low rolled cuff. It looks hipster and messy. Perfect trend to pull off. For you shorter ladies, show a hint of skin on your leg, this will help to break up the cuff and the bootie and help elongate your leg.

Second cuff is a long rolled cuff. Warning, this can make you appear stubby. Tall girls, this one is for you! This will make you look shorter and even out your long legs to your torso.

The next cuff is more of a not skinny jean look. This look looks better and will be pulled off better with a sleek pair of boyfriend jeans that you and actually cuff. This a double cuff and adds a totally different look. Again, make sure to show a hint of skin just so you don’t look stubby.

This week I rocked some booties with dark jeggings and cuffs. I paired it with a black peplum top (From The Mint Julep Boutique) and a colorful statement necklace (From Maurices).

image2 (2)

image1 (3)

A few weeks ago, I also did a cardigan sweater and tank (From Maurcies) and my $15 bargain booties, from Glicks.

Here are a few great links to some awesome booties that don’t break the bank!

Nine West Bootie from DSW

Crown Vintage Sandy Bootie from DSW

Toms Booties

Carlos Booties from Famous Footwear

There! That is my Fashionista Friday lesson on pulling off cuffed jeans and booties like a pro! If you haven’t given in to this trendy look yet, do it! It is so fun and now especially with spring on its way! The same basic rules apply for spring shoes/booties as well!

This weekend, Taylor and I are going to see our nieces and nephews! I can’t wait! What are you doing this weekend?
